New uses for 10 old cleaning and other domestic tools

Posted on July 26, 2022

Crowding your house with old and useless things is of course not a good idea. Storage solutions are fine in this situation. However, at some point, you will not be able to move and feel comfortable in your own place.

Though, it is not necessary to throw absolutely everything that you find unnecessary and too old for your interior. You can actually reuse lots of your old things and make some savings. See new uses for 10 old cleaning and other domestic tools:

  • Repurpose the old mats that you got from your mother back in the days when you just moved into your own living place. Use them for mini tablecloths when you arrange a party for your small kid.
  • Use an old bottle of your favourite wine, soft drink or even a sanitising detergent to store all your hair clips and elastics. You do lose them all the time around the house, don’t you? From now on, you will have them at hand and at strict order!
  • If you are a lover of finely spiced meals, you must be an owner of a large spice collection. Some of these spices come in little amounts, so you can store them in your holders for contact lenses.
  • Recently made some repairs and cosmetic changes in the bathroom? Well, do not throw the old towel holders, but remove them into the closet to store the cleaning supplies!
  • Those of you, who still prefer cooking on gas, must have lots of empty boxes of matches. Use some of them to store your tiny sewing items – needles, pins and threads. Also, this is quite a safety measure if you have a small baby, too.
  • You can have an original sunglass protector by using a retro winter mitten. Keep in mind that the mitten is even better than the thin ordinary protectors, which are too gentle to save the sunglasses from hits.
  • Mousepads usually come in a set with the mice. Though, it is more possible for you to have 1 working mouse and several pads that have been got as gifts. Wondering what to do with the needless pads? Cover the countertop in the kitchen with them and place the hot pots and pans. You will save yourself lots of problems during the end of tenancy cleaning. Burnt stains on wooden surfaces are harsh to be removed.
  • Women, who are in touch with the latest fashion trends, must have several old straighteners for their hair. Those that still work may be used for ironing the hard-to-reach zones of the shirts and sateen dresses.
  • The old bucket for floor cleaning can be wrapped with glossing paper or covered with sympathetic twigs. Use it for a laundry basket!
  • Old T-shirts can be either turned into cloths for dusting during your regular domestic cleaning routine or into a Vintage-styled holder for the kitchen utensils. Feel free to decorate them with ribbons and some colourful patches!
